Melts Into Air (2000)

"All That's Solid Melts Into Air" comprises four short films shot at an exhibition of urban landscape artist Tyree Suyton in Cambridge at Harvard. The work resonated with me as critically insightful and visionary, reminiscent of artists like G.M. Hopkins or Clarence Smith. While filming these pieces, I spoke with Charles Burnett about a project he couldn't fund; he expressed interest in a narrative feature about Tyree Suyton. Consequently, I compiled four films from Spring 2000 into this four-part work: "All That's Solid," "Light Lick," "Toscanini's European Sidewalk Cafe," and "Melts Into Air."
