Reconstruction (2000)

The film features Instamatic photographs – sewn into the fabric and printed inside out. The images are commonplace snapshots from a family album: vacations, trips, gatherings. The stitching connects elements within the pictures – coast to ocean, clouds to sky, people to each other – creating a framework for understanding the emotions and relationships depicted. This method of sewing shapes how we interpret the images, attempting to link them to reality while also emphasizing the distance between the two.
