Description:
Thirteen kilometers from Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, two Portuguese men venture into Brazil's most feared favela, the Complexo do Alemão, home to over 300,000 people. In 2007, during a period of intense tension and violence in Rio, they experience the largest police operation ever conducted in the state, gaining firsthand insight into the life of its residents. The film portrays this dangerous and intricate world – a parallel universe existing within a larger society, governed by rules distinct from the rest of the world.
