Absurd and Absurdity (2008)

The collapse of the Soviet Union dramatically reshaped Kyrgyz society, leaving many residents grappling with a confusing and chaotic present. This is true for three young men in "Absurd and Absurdity," who have been neighbors since childhood. Each faces unique and absurd challenges: Erkin must end a secret affair after his wife suspects something is amiss, leading him into the unsettling world of a psychiatric hospital. Bakit, a student, attempts a suicide as part of a confusing spiritual journey, while an elderly uncle struggles to buy a car in the city. Despite their individual struggles, the days end with a hopeful farewell party for Stas, who remains optimistic about his pending visa to emigrate to Germany. IFFR.
