In August 2008, 25 climbers from around the world reached high camp on K2, the last stop before summiting the world's deadliest mountain. Within 48 hours, 11 people were dead or missing, marking the deadliest day in mountaineering history. In a century of attempts, only around 300 people have reached K2's peak. Sadly, over a quarter of those who did not survive. The documentary focuses on the story of Ger McDonnell, an exceptional Irishman who faced a difficult choice at his physical limit. Using recreations, archival and personal footage, and interviews with those who survived and the families of the lost, the film presents a detailed, powerful account of the events – emotional, compelling, and often deeply disturbing.
