Description:
In the 1970s, Dutch photographer Charles ‘Chas’ Gerretsen rapidly gained international recognition for his limited body of work. A former privateer and war photographer, he was brought on board by Francis Ford Coppola to document the making of Apocalypse Now, leveraging his wartime background. Many of his images from the film's production have remained unseen until now. For the film's 40th anniversary, KINO Rotterdam and the Nederlands Fotomuseum collaborated on a documentary that unearths Gerretsen’s archive. The film features an extensive interview with Gerretsen and over 100 photographs of the film's stars, including Marlon Brando, Dennis Hopper, and Martin Sheen, including shots from deleted scenes.
