The Moonless Night (2004)

"In The Moonless Night, Albania appears to be emptying as people travel by train to emigrate to the West. Sixteen-year-old Rudina and her stern grandfather are among them, traveling with the same goal. On the train, Rudina meets Gjergj, who is traveling with his friend Millo. The grandfather desperately tries to keep them apart, but is unable to prevent Rudina and Gjergj from missing the train at the station. Continuing on foot, they begin to connect. At the beach, they discover the local Mafia is organizing smuggling. As the train passengers arrive, it becomes clear how much the grandfather is hiding about his past and why he opposes the two young people becoming involved." - IFFR
