The War of the Girl (2002)

Harbin, China, January 1945. Fourteen years into the war, many Japanese people had settled in Manchuria, then the northeastern part of China. Ecchan, a young girl who came from Japan, dreams of motherhood and raising twenty children to be soldiers – a grand ambition she doesn't yet grasp in the face of war's reality. August 15th. With Japan's defeat, the Chinese, long subjected to discrimination, unleash their pent-up anger and suffering on the Japanese. Ecchan’s life takes a turn for the worse from this point onward, until their eventual return to Japan.
