Shane MacGowan rose to fame as the lead singer and primary songwriter for The Pogues, creating internationally successful songs like "Fairytale Of New York" and "The Irish Rover." Following his departure from the band in 1991, he formed a new group, The Popes, who released their first album, "The Snake," in 1995. He continues to be a significant figure in Irish music. This performance was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 15, 1995.
