Guiding Fictions (2002)

Filmed with an old 35mm camera on walks through the forest, the film completes its final journey. I bury it in my front yard, letting the earth reclaim it. Maryland humidity slowly degrades the film to fragments. Years later, I record sounds in Brooklyn: teenage skateboarders smoking and jumping, a lively Russian festival with singing and speeches I can't understand. The divide between the city and the country becomes starkly apparent.
