Lacan Palestine (2012)

Lacan Palestine is a found footage essay exploring the difficulties faced by a couple in Palestine. This nation, long subject to imperial influence – evident throughout history in waves of invaders from crusaders to modern aircraft – is depicted with numerous maps illustrating shifting occupied territories negotiated in foreign capitals. Contemporary art figures Velcrow Ripper, Elle Flanders, Tamira Sawatzky, Dani Leventhal, and others contribute perspectives alongside newsreels, historical recreations, and personal moments. Psychoanalysis, represented by Mike Cartmell, offers reflections on themes of father figures and the challenges of finding satisfaction.
