Description:
Years in the making, this film centers on three sisters awaiting the verdict in their trial against their cousin, who sexually abused them as children. The story then shifts to their recollections of growing up in a large, close-knit Punjabi-Canadian family in Williams Lake, British Columbia. The sisters speak openly about their family's hidden truths and reveal a harmful family dynamic built on female submission and obedience. They realize these roles were partly shaped by Bollywood films, which influenced their ideas about love. While the film tackles a painful and direct account of abuse, it also highlights the strength of the sisters' bond and how it empowers them to seek justice for their past.
