Fatherland (2012)

Beginning in 2004, violent clashes between Buddhists and Muslims in Thailand's southernmost provinces escalated into a brutal insurgency, resulting in over 5,000 deaths. Police Captain Taron Yangcheepchob (Sukollawat Kanarot), a Buddhist from Bangkok, accepts a volunteer assignment in the conflict zone. He starts to grasp the origins of the violence and how government policies have failed to resolve it. As his beliefs are questioned, Taron's perspective shifts, leading him to develop an interest in Islam.
