Description:
This film captures the Stratford Festival production of Timothy Findley's Governor General Award-winning play, a visually and aurally rich experience. William Shakespeare and his actors meet Queen Elizabeth I on April 22, 1616, the day before Essex is to be executed. Over the course of the evening, Ned Lowenscroft, an actor known for playing women in Shakespearean plays, tenderly helps the Queen embrace her femininity, while the Queen encourages Ned to assert his masculinity.
