Guido Magnone's extraordinary journey starts unexpectedly with a group of children by the Ourcq canal, all hoping to swim. Guido, the only son in his family, jumps in to gain attention, discovers he's good at it, and becomes passionate about swimming, quickly setting records and winning medals. Simultaneously, he pursues his art, is accepted into the prestigious Beaux-Arts school, and befriends sculptors César and Féraud. After the war, a health retreat in Chamonix sparks his love for the mountains and climbing. His ascents become legendary, conquering the Drus, Fitzroy, and Tour de Mustagh – peaks once thought unscalable. He climbs alongside pioneers like Lionel Terray and Maurice Herzog, documenting expeditions to Makalu, Jannu, and Chacraraju. Later in life, Guido retires from climbing and helps found the UCPA.
