In 2016, eleven young men from Kingston, Jamaica, journeyed to Scotland for the first time to perform their dynamic parkour show, Run Free, at the National Theatre of Scotland’s Home/Away festival. A new documentary film now recounts their experience. *Run Free: The Documentary* details the challenges and successes these young men faced while creating a theatrical piece that resonated with their community, a journey that took them from the streets of Kingston to an international stage, many traveling abroad for the first time. Run Free was developed through the National Theatre of Scotland’s Jump program, and was originally presented by the National Theatre of Scotland, British Council, and Manifesto Jamaica, with creative direction by directors Simon Sharkey, Brian Johnson, and choreographer Liane Williams.
