Hearths (2018)

The film unfolds with a deliberate walk through a quiet, almost staged residential area – empty streets, uniform houses, giving an impression of artificiality. A man narrates his experience of arson: the initial pull, the intense desire, the rush of starting the fire, a lapse in memory, and total unconsciousness. The story is drawn from actual recordings of therapy sessions with arsonists from the 1960s and 1970s.
