John and Faith Hubley created innovative animated films through their extraordinary collaboration. John, an artist and activist with a background in traditional animation, became a filmmaker after marrying sound and music editor Faith. Together, they revolutionized animation, crafting films that addressed significant topics like overpopulation and nuclear war, reflecting their convictions, and earning numerous awards, including two Oscars. Following John's passing in 1977, Faith continued their legacy, releasing one film annually, upholding their shared values of independent thought and filmmaking. This film explores the lives of these two remarkable individuals, their time together and apart, the talented musicians they partnered with, their children – whose voices appear in many Hubley films – and excerpts from over a dozen films produced by the Hubley Studio.
