Description:
In early 1990s Denmark, with 300,000 people unemployed, Viggo, a machinist with two adult children, keeps his emotions hidden. Worried about his job, he strongly supports trade unions, enjoys his fish, and often argues at the dinner table. His wife Oda patiently manages his moods while researching their family history. When Viggo is laid off, he struggles to find work, instead focusing on gardening and developing a relationship with Karen, a sophisticated but unfulfilled widow. He deceives Oda about a union training and takes a trip to Mallorca with Karen. When she ends the affair, Viggo is hospitalized and must confront what truly matters to him and who he is.
