Description:
This is the only surviving film from the 1908 expedition funded by Rodman Wanamaker to document American Indian life in the American West. Filmed for educational screenings at Wanamaker's department store in Philadelphia, and to record what Wanamaker and photographer Joseph K. Dixon viewed as a disappearing culture, the film captures scenes from Crow Agency, a Crow Fair, and a recreation of the Battle of Little Big Horn featuring four of Custer’s Crow scouts. Dixon and his son Roland also captured thousands of photographs, most of which are now archived at Indiana University.
