Description:

Magician Pasparte, who runs a circus, returns to Prague and is asked by his dying friend to look after his daughter, Aloisie. They settle into a house called At Blue Fish to plan their performances. Pasparte shares the house with Evzenie, her widow, and they live together. Evzenie is jealous of Aloisie, so Pasparte sends Aloisie to work as a housekeeper for Jakub Kolenatý, a photographer who wants to capture images of a revitalized Prague. Pasparte hopes to open Prague's first permanent movie theater, showcasing original Czech films.
