Description:

The railway line from Swindon to Bristol Parkway was created to shorten travel time from South Wales, linked with the Severn Tunnel. In 2002, a single daily service continued to Fishguard, connecting with ferries to Ireland. These services are now discontinued. Video 125 cameras captured footage from inside a First Great Western 125 High Speed Train (HST) before the services were stopped. Much of the journey takes place through Wales on the South Wales main line, engineered by I.K. Brunel and built to the 7ft broad gauge. The double track eventually becomes single track at Clarbeston Road. The Fishguard branch, a 3/4 mile line, uses an electric token system. The train stops at Bristol Parkway, Newport, Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Neath, Swansea, and Whitland.
