Description:
Ruhter conceived a way to showcase the beauty of antique objects at an unprecedented scale, prompting him and the Silver & Light Team to seek out Bombay Beach, a forgotten town on the Salton Sea in California. Their project involved building a camera inside an abandoned house, using the structure as its frame. Rather than highlighting the house's decay, this "house camera" offered a glimpse into the mind of its subject. A large lens was positioned to project images of Ted, a 100-year-old resident recently displaced from his home, breathing life back into the abandoned building and making it feel like a home again. During the capture of Ted's photograph, he was physically present in both locations, despite being homeless in the outside world.
