Alejandro Sanz's second live album, MTV Unplugged, was recorded at Miami's Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and released by Warner Music in 2001, following his 1994 album, El Básico. Sanz made history as the first Spanish artist to record a MTV Unplugged. A DVD of the concert was also released. On this album, Sanz demonstrates his versatility by adapting to a more classic and natural sound, with shifts in rhythm and prominent guitar or piano work. Tracks like "Cuando nadie me ve" and "Cómo te echo de menos" feature only piano and strings. "Amiga mía" and "Quiero morir en tu veneno" showcase a significant shift from electric to a permanent acoustic sound.
