Description:
In Greensboro, North Carolina, on November 3, 1979, a Communist Workers Party rally protesting the Ku Klux Klan was attacked. A group of Klansmen and Nazis opened fire, killing five people in an event known as the Greensboro Massacre. Twenty-five years later, "Greensboro: Closer to the Truth" brings together survivors—many widowed and wounded—with their attackers to examine how their lives have changed since the killings. The film follows these individuals as they are called to testify before the first Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the United States, held in Greensboro from 2004-2006, to investigate the Massacre. As the Commission seeks to determine the truth behind the events, those involved must confront their past and grapple with the possibility of healing.
