Train Pieces (2001)

A train journey from Rome to Siracusa, via Messina. I'm asleep. From Dresden to Berlin, the landscape rushes past – branches like paint strokes against the sky. The sounds, the rhythm of the machines, the smell of steel... I'm obsessed with trains. On a train, I transform. I'm in a different world, a place of escape. The sound of steel echoes off the marble of old Roman buildings as the train approaches Roma Termini, accompanied by a Scanner CD and the phrase "aranciata, birra, coca... aranciata, birra, coca..." - A.T.
