Sand (2018)

In 2018, Tsai Ming-Liang was commissioned by the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration to create this film, the eighth installment in his "Walker" series. The Walker's meditative journey takes us through landscapes of time: the Pacific Ocean, open skies, seagulls, black sand beaches, a winter eel-catching village built in the rain, gnarled lintou trees, mountains of driftwood, and a new cement house offering a brief respite for the Walker. "Sand" premiered with the opening of the Zhuangwei Dune Visitor Center.
