Description:
For 999 years, the mountain spirit Rübezahl has resided in the Giant Mountains, unseen by humankind. However, upon learning that people have stopped believing in him and that greed and injustice now prevail, the mountain lord descends into the valley to teach humanity a lesson with his magic. He takes a servant overworked by his old horse, gives him a whip, and uses him to drive Rübezahl's carriage. The spirit turns the gold of his wealthy and miserly cousin Klaus into stone. Growing hungry during his journey, Rübezahl stops at an inn disguised as a driver. When the greedy innkeeper eats half of the scrambled eggs Rübezahl ordered, Rübezahl demands a refund for the uneaten portion.
