Danube Soap Opera (2006)

In Kovilj, villagers raise cattle on the Danube islands. Marko, who owns ten horses and around twenty cows, is close friends with Kamer, a Roma who helps him sell his livestock at local markets. When a major flood threatens in the spring of 2006, a young horse breeder named Željko leads the villagers' efforts to save their cattle. The attractive waitress Ana captures the attention of the young men in Kovilj. Life and work by the Danube create strong bonds between the Roma community and the locals, who come together for village celebrations. After experiencing heartbreak, Ana and some friends decide to leave the village and pursue a new life across the river.
