UFC Fight Night 136, the Ultimate Fighting Championship's first event in Russia, took place on September 15, 2018, at Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Moscow. The UFC utilized half of the venue and adjusted the seating. Initially planned to feature a heavyweight fight between Fabrício Werdum and Aleksei Oleinik as the main event, those plans changed when Werdum was flagged for a possible doping violation in May. The headliner was later announced on July 19 as a fight between Mark Hunt, the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix winner and former interim title challenger, and Oleinik.
