Description:
Puccini's enduring tale of love, featuring some of his most cherished melodies, has captivated audiences since its debut in 1896. Popular with the Metropolitan Opera's worldwide HD broadcasts, it has been shown in high definition three times since 2008. The 2017–18 presentation features a cast of acclaimed young performers. Soprano Sonya Yoncheva plays the delicate seamstress Mimì, who quickly falls for the passionate poet Rodolfo, portrayed by tenor Michael Fabiano. Soprano Susanna Phillips and baritone Lucas Meachem portray the volatile lovers Musetta and Marcello, while bass Matthew Rose and baritone Alexey Lavrov complete the lively group of bohemian friends. Maestro Marco Armiliato conducts Franco Zeffirelli’s visually appealing production.
