Description:
Following the death of his brother Steve in a street race, champion drag racer Jeff Northup abandons racing. But a newcomer named "Bronc" Talbott arrives in town with the goal of forcing Jeff back into racing so he can win his title – and he’s also pursuing Jeff's girlfriend, Lisa. Jeff feels responsible for Steve's death, having built the car Steve raced and encouraged him to do so on a supervised course run by police detective Ben Merrill, who aims to reduce hot-rod fatalities. Without Jeff's leadership, racing on the streets resumes. Talbott’s taunts escalate until he pressures Jeff into a race that tragically results in the death of a child on a bicycle, and evidence suggests Jeff was responsible.
