Description:

In 1944, as the Soviet Army entered Romania, many Romanians fled to the Carpathian Mountains – a varied group of nationalists, fascists, liberals, farmers, and middle-class citizens displaced by the Communists. Over a thousand armed resistance groups sought refuge in the mountains, hoping for aid from the Western Allies. One group was led by Ion Gavrilă-Ogoranu and remained hidden until his arrest in 1976. The film portrays the daily life of this group, chronicling a struggle that became its own purpose. Constantly pursued by the enemy, arrest meant torture or death. Hungry and isolated, the young men became involved in an unwinnable partisan war deep in the South Carpathians, relentlessly hunted by the Securitate, the secret police.
