White Hole (2014)

The author's only experience in a communist country was Poland in 1980, shortly after Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister in the UK. They first visited East Germany in 1997, eight years after the Berlin Wall fell and a few months after Tony Blair's Labour government took office. Years later, the author reflects on these experiences, prompting us to consider how we imagine life in different places, eras, and political systems, a mirroring effect achieved through the film's structure.
