Tonite Let’s All Make Love in London (1967)

Peter Whitehead's documentary "A Pop Concerto" presents a series of loosely connected scenes exploring various aspects of Swinging London, each set to a different piece of music. The film features nightclub scenes with an early performance of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive," alongside a young woman reflecting on London nightlife and her own emptiness while Chris Farlowe sings the Rolling Stones' "Out of Time." Other segments include the Marquess of Kensington singing "Changing of the Guard" during a changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, and a look at recording act Vashti at work. Interspersed are interviews with Mick Jagger (discussing revolution), Andrew Loog Oldham (talking about his future), and Julie Christie, Michael Caine, Lee Marvin, and Edna O'Brien (each discussing sex). The film culminates in footage of the riot that disrupted the Rolling Stones' 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert.
