Description:
Koichi Hirayama and his wife Michiko leave Osaka for Okinawa and build a happy life with their five children. Their peaceful existence is shattered when their oldest son is drafted into the Imperial army as war begins. As the conflict intensifies, the family flees the city, but one after another, their children are conscripted into different parts of the military and supporting war efforts. Koichi is then confronted with a difficult moral choice when he's ordered to kill a wounded American soldier.
