Ronnie Drew: September Song (2008)

The documentary is titled after Drew's recording of "September Song," a song popularized by many artists. Since forming the groundbreaking folk band The Dubliners in 1962, Ronnie Drew has become strongly associated with his hometown of Dublin. *September Song* (2008) offers a personal look at the legendary singer, who reflects on his childhood in his grandmother's house in Dun Laoghaire, the formation of The Dubliners in O'Donoghue's pub, years of international touring, the difficult loss of his wife of forty years, and his own struggle with cancer. The film includes interviews with his son Phelim, daughter Cliodhna, and friends and fellow musicians Bono, Billy Connolly, and Damien Dempsey.
