Description:
The Duke of Chartres is deeply in love with Princess Henriette, but she rejects him. Disheartened by her treatment and pressured by Louis XV to marry her, he escapes to England. There, posing as Monsieur Beaucaire, the French Ambassador's barber, he embraces a life of freedom. After exposing another nobleman's cheating at cards, he convinces him to introduce him as a peer to Lady Mary, a woman he's fallen for. However, Lady Mary loses interest when she believes he's just a barber. She later discovers his true identity and tries to win him back, but the Duke of Chartres returns to France and finds that Princess Henriette now reciprocates his feelings.
