Detective Ushio vs. Case Writer Saeko: Survivors (2016)

In Tokyo's Shinjuku Central Park, the body of Kazuyoshi Kawagishi, a construction worker, is found stabbed. Detective Masanao Ushio investigates and discovers Kawagishi was an unassuming man with no known problems. He worked in Kofu City, Yamanashi, and left his wife and daughter on Awaji Island, Hyogo. He began working as a laborer three years prior after his previous company went bankrupt. Ushio's reporter friend, Saeko Kawamura, contacts him about the case, revealing Kawagishi was a survivor of the "bus hijack arson case" from three years ago. In that incident, a drug-affected man set fire to a bus traveling to Shinjuku, departing from Kofu Station.
