Fair Day (2004)

The day is dawning, beautiful as any other year, yet marked by grief. "It doesn't look right!" Vera tells her sister. Her mother-in-law looks at her, remembering a lost son. A silence falls between them, filled with remembrance. Children's voices drift in from outside; Lucia wants to go to the fair with her uncle and cousin. "You promised!" she insists. Vera allows it, and Lucia waves goodbye as the tractor departs. Chance, an accident – death is always nearby, palpable.
