Last Run of a Cab Forward Over Donner Pass DVD (2004)

In November 1957, Southern Pacific's Cab Forward 4274 made its final journey across Donner Pass, an event filmed by Albert C. Phelps with photography by J. Allen Hawkins and Jacob DeVries. The film takes viewers on a ride inside the cab of the AC-powered 10-car train as it ascends the steep grade. It features scenes from 4274's preparation in Roseville, rare shots of the train speeding through the Sierra Nevada foothills, and staged photo runs for passengers at remote stops. This is a special experience for steam locomotive enthusiasts.
