Antigone (2018)

Dean's filmmaking emphasizes history, setting, light, and the core feeling of the movie. This project is a two-screen 35mm film installation that celebrates the qualities and techniques of traditional photochemical film. Inspired by her sister's name, Antigone draws on the quiet space between Sophocles' plays *Oedipus Rex* and *Oedipus at Colonus*. The story follows the mythological figure of Antigone as she guides her blind and lame father, Oedipus, through the wilderness. The film highlights the importance of experimentation in filmmaking and explores how film bridges art, cinema, and theater.
