Description:

After leaving town with her boyfriend 13 years ago, DeeDee returns with her 11-year-old son, Trooper. Her childhood friend Sam, now a veterinarian married to Lydia (also a veterinarian), is initially hesitant about DeeDee, given their shared past. However, DeeDee and Trooper win over the townspeople with their kindness and helpfulness. DeeDee starts a candle-making business in the town square, hosting weekly parties that bring her closer to Lydia. One evening, DeeDee tells Sam she is terminally ill and needs him to help find a family for Trooper. Sam confides in Lydia, and they decide to adopt Trooper should the worst happen to DeeDee.
