Description:
In 1974, communist authorities established the "Memorial Home for WWII Resistance Fighters and Youth of Yugoslavia" in Kumrovec, the small hometown of Marshal Tito. The Memorial Home closed in 1991 when Yugoslavia dissolved, eleven years after Tito's death and with the start of the Croatian War of Independence, and has remained closed ever since. Numerous efforts to find a new use for the building have been unsuccessful. Some fighters still reside there.
