Description:
Herbert Föttinger begins his time as artistic director at the Theater in der Josefstadt with the world premiere of Peter Turrini's "Mein Nestroy" (My Nestroy). Turrini, a major figure in modern Austrian literature, returns to the story of Johann Nepomuk Nestroy, who first performed at the Theater in der Josefstadt in 1829. "Mein Nestroy" explores Nestroy's complex, thirty-year relationship with his life and stage partner Marie Weiler. Karl Markovics and Sandra Cervik play the leading roles. Herbert Föttinger directs the opening night production.
