Vittorio – Momente des Glücks (2002)

Alessandro Rossi, an Italian air force officer working in diplomacy, is content with his wife, pilot Bea Rossi. Following a previous miscarriage, Bea becomes fixated on having a son, whom she plans to name Vittorio, meaning 'winner'. She quits her job and moves in with Alessandro's supportive family in rural Italy – his mother Teresa, father Giuseppe, and Bruder Giorgio – while Alessandro's work requires him to be frequently away. Bea’s mother, Martha, feeling neglected, calls Bea from Berlin, but dies before she can reach her. While clearing out Martha’s house, Bea reconnects with Moritz Wiesner, her first love, who had cared for Martha. Alessandro is unable to persuade Bea to leave Berlin. After saving a child from danger, Bea experiences another miscarriage, which she hides from Alessandro, whom she secretly blames. Determined to have a child, she takes desperate measures but is discovered.
