Photographer and documentarian Allan Sekula travels to the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Japan, and other coastal locations, examining globalization and the sea. Sekula reflects on the sea's powerful allure, weaving together stories from Greek myths, American films, and the lives of dockworkers, lost sailors, and those uprooted by change. He critiques how global forces have transformed the traditional seafaring life, once seen as a gamble.
