Description:
In the village of Simiri, Niger, during the dry season, the Songhay and Zarma people perform rain rituals involving possession dances. As the dry season progresses, the villagers gather for the Yenendi festival, celebrating the rain. Musicians prepare under shelter with gourd drums, while Chief Wadi Sorko tunes his violin. The ceremony includes a dance where a participant embodies a "spirit" horse.
