Description:
"As We Forgive" documents Rosaria and Chantal, two Rwandan women who confront the men responsible for murdering their families during the 1994 genocide. The film explores the nation's struggle with the immense grief stemming from the genocide, which killed approximately one in eight Rwandans that year. With a backlog of court cases, the government has released over 50,000 genocide perpetrators back into the communities they devastated. Faced with limited prospects for justice, Rwanda is pursuing reconciliation. The film questions whether forgiveness is possible, both for the survivors and for the nation as a whole, and examines the role of the church in this process, considering its past failures.
