Description:
In 1986, Uruguay's Parliament enacted a law granting amnesty to the military and police for crimes and human rights abuses committed during the dictatorship (1973-85). This law of impunity blocked efforts by families seeking answers about their disappeared loved ones. A public campaign then pushed for a referendum to repeal the law. *Unas preguntas* uses U-matic footage, primarily interviews filmed on Uruguayan streets between 1987 and 1989, to offer a snapshot of that era.
